    Undenatured Whey Protein Shakes important part of cleansing and weight loss

    “Cleansing” is a hot topic now in the U.S.  especially where I live in Colorado.  So in vogue now,  that it can cause one to just do nothing because of the daunting task to find a safe, reliable, and affordable system.

    There are many products and companies touting that they have the magic juice or ingredient to “cleanse” our body. However, data supports the importance of having a full spectrum nutritional intake to support the body in cleansing using both phase one and phase two pathways.

    The body has 2 main pathways of detoxification called phase one and phase two. Thus, it is important to  support our bodies with a mulititude of ingredients so it utilizes both pathways and not over burden any of our bodies natural cleansing abilities.  No single ingredient or process can achieve this goal.

    One very important component of cleansing to look for is the quality of protein one takes.  Because  Amino acids in protein shakes support the phase two process it is vital to purchase a high quality protein shake that is has a complete amino acid profile and is highly bioavailable.

    Independent testing shows that  bioactive ingredients other than whey proteins are important components in a meal replacement shake.  Some are  Cysteine, and amino peptide factors and growth factors.   When whey is heated the bioavailability of the food is compromised. Having a large array of  ingredients in one system is also economical.

    Look for a source of whey that is not the by product of cheese production, as this can harm the whey because of the heating that is needed.

    As quoted from an article written by Robert Harrison:

    “When the milk goes through a heating process (approx. 163 F), chemical modification and pH regulation to produce cheese. Each of these steps denatures (damages) the whey proteins.”

    Let’s look at one amino acid in particular:  Cysteine vs. Cystine

    “Biologically active whey protein that contains naturally occurring Cysteine is optimal for the intracellular production of Glutathione. If Cysteine undergoes any heating or processing, as all conventional dairy and dairy by-products do, it is denatured and converted to Cystine.”

    Glutathione is produced within our bodies and is vital for supporting phase 2 of detoxification. It is imperative that the protein profile offers our bodies this nutrition for safe cleansing.

    The Isalean shakes are undenatured whey protein from grass fed cows in New Zealand and are processed using a low temperature process.  They have the full amino acid profile needed to support phase 2 of the detoxification pathway.  This makes it the perfect compliment to the “cleanse for life” juice drink which supports the “phase one” pathway.

    Preventative health is more than just eating well and exercising.  It is finding a safe way to help rid the body ofharmful impurties that we encounter everyday. I have found that incorporating a comprehensive cleansing program that is easy to follow into my daily life has taken my health to a new level and has helped me reach my ideal weight and keep me there!

    Pesticides Predicament

    There’s no easy way around it.  If you are eating food you are consuming pesticides.

    We always hear about the benefits of organic food, but most of us are not listening!  One-third of all of our fruits and vegetables consumed in the United States are still covered in pesticides.

    Pesticides are poisons!  They are sprayed on fruits and vegetables with the intent to kill pests, but they hurting us too?

    ‘Research shows that some of them – called neurotoxins – can harm our brains and our nervous systems. One recent study found that children with a high level of a certain pesticide had an increased chance of attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and developmental disorders similar to autism. Other pesticides, which mimic hormone activity, can possibly reduce fertility. And scientists recently discovered that exposure to one of the most common weed killers increased weight gain in animals by 10%.’

    That’s right!  Eating fruits and vegitable might actually be making you FAT!

    ‘In Seattle recently,  researcher study the effects of  ‘going organic’ and found that this sudden change in diet can immediately affect our health in some very possessive ways. Group participants urine was tested.  These were typical suburban kids just like yours and mine.   Testing found that pesticide levels were above those considered safe by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in ALL of these children. The same kids were then switched to all organic diet.  They still eat all the same foods, but a much healthy version.  The pesticide level in their urine dropped in less than 24 hours. When the children were returned to their regular diets, their pesticide levels shot right back up above the EPA safety limits.’

    Have your whole Family Go Organic!

    Remember, fruits and vegetables with thicker rinds such as bananas, oranges, and avocados will have lower levels of pesticides than those with more permeable skin such as potatoes, carrots, apples, pears and strawberries.  Also, try to find seasonal and local produce, which will have a lower pesticide level, because it does not have to travel far to get to your table and CLEANSE regularly.  Regular cleanse can help the body perform as the natural detoxifier it was built to be.

    Let’s face it.  With all the poisons on our tables our bodies can get over whelmed with impurities.  Regular cleansing may help the support the body and promote your good health.

    The Nutrition and Health Facts about Organic Foods

    Sometimes I wonder if I am wasting my money buying organic foods for my family.

    I’ll see an ‘organic’ apple at the store and it’s obvious it’s ‘waxed’ or I’ll hear that, ‘any organic foods coming into the US are treated at the border with pestecides’ and I’ll have to rethink why am I spending more? Am I really getting less.

    So, I go back an do my research and I remember why I’m trying to make these choices for my family.

    Below is a summary of an article published in “Coronary and Diabetic Care in the UK 2004″ by the Association of Primary Care Groups and Trusts (UK). It was written by James Cleeton, Policy Projects Co-ordinator at the Soil Association.

    The article concluded that a predominantly organic diet:

    - reduces the amount of toxic chemicals ingested;

    - totally avoids GMOs [genetically modified organisms];

    - reduces the amount of food additives and colourings;

    - increases the amount of beneficial vitamins, minerals, EFAs [essential fatty acids] and antioxidants consumed;

    - appears to have the potential to lower the incidence of common conditions such as cancer, coronary heart disease, allergies and hyperactivity in children.

      I agree with you that a truly organic diet can make a difference in our health. But you have a valid concern – “organic” regulation stops at the farm, and the foods we trust to be pesticide free have often been waxed, sprayed or otherwise treated while on their way to the produce aisle. It’s tough to trust any label that tells you something is organic – in the U.S., regulations are incomplete and easy to work around. Buying produce from local farms whenever possible is a surefire way to decrease the risks that organics bring. I ranted a bit about organics in my blog today, too: http://envirocation.wordpress.com/. Thanks!
