    Undenatured Whey Protein Shakes important part of cleansing and weight loss

    “Cleansing” is a hot topic now in the U.S.  especially where I live in Colorado.  So in vogue now,  that it can cause one to just do nothing because of the daunting task to find a safe, reliable, and affordable system.

    There are many products and companies touting that they have the magic juice or ingredient to “cleanse” our body. However, data supports the importance of having a full spectrum nutritional intake to support the body in cleansing using both phase one and phase two pathways.

    The body has 2 main pathways of detoxification called phase one and phase two. Thus, it is important to  support our bodies with a mulititude of ingredients so it utilizes both pathways and not over burden any of our bodies natural cleansing abilities.  No single ingredient or process can achieve this goal.

    One very important component of cleansing to look for is the quality of protein one takes.  Because  Amino acids in protein shakes support the phase two process it is vital to purchase a high quality protein shake that is has a complete amino acid profile and is highly bioavailable.

    Independent testing shows that  bioactive ingredients other than whey proteins are important components in a meal replacement shake.  Some are  Cysteine, and amino peptide factors and growth factors.   When whey is heated the bioavailability of the food is compromised. Having a large array of  ingredients in one system is also economical.

    Look for a source of whey that is not the by product of cheese production, as this can harm the whey because of the heating that is needed.

    As quoted from an article written by Robert Harrison:

    “When the milk goes through a heating process (approx. 163 F), chemical modification and pH regulation to produce cheese. Each of these steps denatures (damages) the whey proteins.”

    Let’s look at one amino acid in particular:  Cysteine vs. Cystine

    “Biologically active whey protein that contains naturally occurring Cysteine is optimal for the intracellular production of Glutathione. If Cysteine undergoes any heating or processing, as all conventional dairy and dairy by-products do, it is denatured and converted to Cystine.”

    Glutathione is produced within our bodies and is vital for supporting phase 2 of detoxification. It is imperative that the protein profile offers our bodies this nutrition for safe cleansing.

    The Isalean shakes are undenatured whey protein from grass fed cows in New Zealand and are processed using a low temperature process.  They have the full amino acid profile needed to support phase 2 of the detoxification pathway.  This makes it the perfect compliment to the “cleanse for life” juice drink which supports the “phase one” pathway.

    Preventative health is more than just eating well and exercising.  It is finding a safe way to help rid the body ofharmful impurties that we encounter everyday. I have found that incorporating a comprehensive cleansing program that is easy to follow into my daily life has taken my health to a new level and has helped me reach my ideal weight and keep me there!

    Common Household Items linked to serious health risks and obesity

    Information about how our modern word convenience and products are contributing to serious health risks and obesity is becoming more well-known.  The Environmental Defense Fund is one organization that has been a leader in providing facts to the pubic about this threat to our health.  In an article this month the EDF warns us about invisible toxins inside our homes.  They helped write a report in collaboration with the coalition Safer Chemicals Healthy Families.  This report “connects the dots between chemical exposures and chronic disease”.  The following are a few common household items that contain chemicals linked to serious health risks:   flooring and windows, plastics, fragrances,  food can linings, nonstick cookware, cleaners, hardwood floor protectant, carpeting, nonstick cookware, stain resistant fabrics, microwaves, adhesives, pizza boxes, fast food containers, batteries, old paint, lightbulbs.  This list contains items we can avoid and many that would be very difficult to avoid in our modern world.

    As a Physical Therapist in Northern Colorado where health is on the minds of many people,  I am seeing more and more chronic illnesses,  more illnesses affecting people at younger ages, and people desperately wanting to lose weight.  We owe it to ourselves to be diligent about what we eat, what we purchase, what we bring into our homes, and how our actions are affecting our environment.  And we owe it to ourselves to find safe ways to rid our bodies of harmful impurities.

    To  help protect us from things in our environment that we are unable to control I have embraced a safe and effective lifestyle using the Isagenix system.  I feel it is the best way to help my families immune system. We are very thankful for having been introduced to the system that Isagenix has so brilliantly designed.

    How To Do Isagenix

    The fact is, there are several ways to add Isagenix to your regime.

    My thoughts (John Anderson the Formulator and founder of Isagenix) are based on the ingredient function and how the nutrients affect the body.

    However, Isagenix marketing department have printed ways to compromise in cases where some people think they can’t do the systems with such strong regimes.

    This is not always wrong, many benefit from taking Isagenix to fit their schedules, ease the pressure of feeling they cheated, etc. Maybe these instructions do slow down the results but they are better than giving up.

    The JA WAY is my way of educating people how to succeed faster and get the biggest bang for their buck.

    In reading the instructions, I find that eating eggs, salads, and other food snacks are perfectly acceptable. There are many who mentally think they need the extra food to survive. In these cases, the relaxed way of adding Isagenix is better than not at all.

    I am retired, yes, the literature did change, but the fact is Isagenix is still the number one Cleansing company in the world.

    Confusing the consumer is not a good idea, too many fingers are in the pot resulting in mixed questions.
    I suggest if you share my original way of consuming the system, you share it by simply suggesting the option.

    I conducted the first study of 242 people who were ages 18 to 75, male and female, and all volunteered to follow the regime exactly as requested.

    This study was conducted based on the results of approximately 10 others who had incredible results including me.

    The result was as follows;
    Most everyone reported more energy,
    clarity of mind, some reported better eye sight,
    slept better than in years,
    All reported inches loss,
    AND, the average weight loss in all subjects was 15.8 pounds in 9 days.

    I knew this had to be shared with the world and quickly founded Isagenix. Jim and Kathy became my Co-Founders. We had a mission!

    The point is, these results are not enjoyed today because the regime has changed. Never the less, people do get results, just not so dramatic as the original regime was.

    Share this and let people choose their path, there are many benefits to both ways.

    Happy Cleansing

    John

    Review: New Isagenix Shakes

    There seems to be mixed review about the taste of the new Isagenix IsaLean Shakes so I thought I would chime in and give my opinion.

    I have been a user of Isagenix products for over 3 years now.  Since then, Isagenix has reformulated the shakes three times.  My favorite flavor has always been the chocolate although I may be changing my mind after using the new Natural Creamy Vanilla.  So first, lets talk chocolate.

    In my opinion the taste of the new Natural Creamy Chocolate is not better or worse it is just different.  To me it tastes more like coco.  What I mean is it reminds me of the taste of hot chocolate only in a cold delicious shake.  So who doesn’t like the taste of hot chocolate?

    Now I never was a fan of the old vanilla shake.  To me it had a banana taste that did not appeal to me.  However, the new Natural Creamy Vanilla is nothing but vanilla.  I love it so much I find myself drinking it more often than my old chocolate favorite.  My husband even had me switch his auto-ship from chocolate to vanilla.  For those of you who like bananas go ahead and add a banana or your other favorite fruit to your shake.

    Now both the shakes are more thick and creamy than the old ones.  But the most important thing is that they are healthier.

    New shake includes:

    • 23 grams of the highest quality whey and casein protein and a superior amino acid complex that helps you maintain and build lean body mass.*
    • Lower lactose levels for easier digestion.
    • Ionic Alfalfa, Isagenix’s exclusive blend of over 70 supercharged trace minerals to keep your body running at peak performance.
    • Only 240 calories and 6 grams of fat per shake.  It’s the perfect high nutrition food that costs less than $3 per meal.**
    • Clinically proven to support weight loss and weight management.***

    ***Based on a university study where shakes replaced two meals each day for seven days resulted in greater weight loss and an increase in lean body mass in comparison to our previous shake.  For maximum results, take Isagenix shakes as part of a complete Isagenix system.

    Tags: , Elevated LDL Cholesterol, Fructose, High Fructose Corn Syrup, , , , , Support the Liver, Whole Food Sources

    What the difference between Fructose and High Fructose Corn Syrup and What’s in Isagenix?

    FRUCTOSE, (levulose);
    It is derived from sources such as honey, fruit from trees, berries, all types of melons, and vegetable roots (beets, parsnips, onions, and sweet potatoes). This is a great source for adding a carbohydrate to your diet. It is 1.75 times sweeter than sucrose and has other mineral benefits as well. Isagenix is proud to use this type and source for it’s essential carbohydrates.

    Crystalline fructose is derived from corn and labeled “HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP” (HFCS). I have nothing against corn and it does have many uses in the human diet, but HFCS is misused in most foods, drinks, POP, and a huge cause of obesity too. These both have monosaccharides. Type 2 diabetes is spreading rapidly as a result of over consumption of HFCS. Isagenix does not use HFCS.

    The whole food approach and source of raw materials are very important when creating a quality product. Out products containing fructose are there because this entire system required balanced carbohydrates, protein, and fat too. Carbs are not the enemy, we need them to produce energy, feed the brain, and are a key to life it’s self.

    First, Linda is wrong about her “Rumors” of Isagenix users Ballooning up. We have HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS who have success on our Products.

    Anyone discontinuing ANY program can BALLOON if they want to, just by increasing the caloric intake, going back to their old ways, and, continuing to hold in all the toxins they absorb. This is common sense.
    Carbohydrates are necessary for brain function (conversion to glucose), energy and can not be removed from your diet. Isagenix used the finest “fructose” to balance the intake of carbs, protein and fats. This is a key to the success of the system.

    Your link on fructose said;
    1. Increase in visceral fat, the kind that embeds itself between tissues in organs.
    Response,
    Isagenix products contain a balanced program with 200 nutritional building blocks for optimum nutrition and have shown NO visceral fat increase. Isagenix does show a decrease in visceral fat.

    2. Less sensitivity to insulin, one of the first signs of diabetes
    Response,
    In fact, Isagenix products have not shown any signs of insulin resistance. Insulin resistance (IR) is the condition in which normal amounts of insulin are inadequate to produce a normal insulin response from fat, muscle and liver cells. Insulin resistance in fat cells reduces the effects of insulin and results in elevated hydrolysis of stored triglycerides in the absence of measures which either increase insulin sensitivity or which provide additional insulin. Isagenix has shown quite the opposite.
    3. Increased fat production in the liver,
    Response,
    Again, this is exactly the opposite of the Isagenix products. We have studies that show a great reduction in fat. There are also ingredients that support the Liver and increase production of Bile.

    4. Elevated LDL (bad) cholesterol
    Response,
    Please tell me you really do not believe Isagenix causes an increase in LDL. Isagenix has shown a reduction in LDL.

    5. Increased levels of triglycerides
    Response,
    I can tell you that Isagenix is in no way increasing Triglycerides in anyone.
    The consumption of POP containing High Corn Syrup may cause this but we do not use this in ANY of the products!

    An Educational look at Cinnamon Research By John W Anderson

    CINNAMON, Just a Spice?

    Cinnamon Bark is thought to be just a spice and used in desserts, tea, and many foods. It does taste great but I want to share the rest of the story with you!

    I am an old timer in the health revolution and have been in this industry for 30 years. I continue to see progress and research being done and new information available every day. But, sometimes, you need to look into the past to see the future, I do exactly that!

    In the early 80′s I traveled to many research facilities around the US and world looking into the past, present, and the future of natural supplementation. It’s very interesting to see how mankind figured out how to use botanicals and food as their medicine without modern day testing. The Wise men, Healers, and Medicine men are the Founders and Pioneers of today’s natural medicine.

    You may hear this often, but I do repeat myself; “Man is the only living creature making a science of destroying himself”. Today more than ever, we need to make a science of reversing the damage and destruction of our health.

    Today, we see the authentication of many ancient botanical uses and treatments of all kinds. I also see some of the old folk medicines being disproved as well. So, knowing the facts are important and a safe way to ensure good health and proper use of all God’s Gifts.
    I do not want to make claims, just give some of the useful findings that really work.

    Cinnamon in Ancient times;
    The first mention of a particular spice in the Old Testament is of cinnamon (Exodus 30:24) where Moses is commanded to use both sweet cinnamon and cassia in the holy anointing oil; in Proverbs 7:17–18, where the lover’s bed is perfumed with myrrh, aloe and cinnamon; and in Song of Solomon 4:14, a song describing the beauty of his beloved, cinnamon scents her garments like the smell of Lebanon. It was so highly prized among ancient nations that it was regarded as a gift fit for monarchs and even for God: a fine inscription records the gift of cinnamon and cassia to the temple of Apollo at Miletus.

    cinnamon is native to Sri Lanka. It was imported to Egypt as early as 2000 BC. Its value in these times equal to gold! Sometimes referred to as “THE SPICE OF LIFE”.

    “Let your food be your medicine” said Hippocrates, the Father of Medicine, who compiled a list of over four hundred herbs and their uses. Herbs, spices, and even cinnamon are the oldest form of medicine known to man. While modern or “allopathic” medicine is barely a century old, the practice of natural medicine using nature as a pharmacy can be traced back through all of the ancient civilizations.

    In medicine, cinnamon acts like other volatile oils and once had a reputation as a cure for colds. It has also been used to treat diarrhea and other problems of the digestive system. Cinnamon is high in antioxidant activity.

    Cinnamon in Recent times;
    20 plus years ago, I found research being done on the effects of cinnamon on blood glucose, insulin resistance, metabolism, and fat burning. The first findings were regarding the effects on type 2 diabetics. Today, diabetes has become epidemic; the number of diabetics is increasing every year in adults and in children

    In 2004, the American Botanical Council published further studies on cinnamon and confirmed the earlier research to be true. I would like to quote some of the findings;

    1 Cinnamon improves glucose and lipids of people with type 2 Diabetes.

    2 Dr. Richard Anderson of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Nutrients Requirements and Functions Laboratory, Beltsville Human Nutrition Research Center in Beltsville, Maryland, has devoted some of his research program to testing the effects of common spices on insulin production and glucose metabolism.

    The studies show that; cinnamon, clove, bay leaves, and turmeric have proven insulin-enhancing activity.

    3 Cinnamon has been shown to increase in-vitro glucose uptake, glycogen synthesis, and phosphorylation (adding phosphate to an organic compound) of the insulin receptors. It is thought that these extracts may help trigger the insulin cascade system. Given that insulin also plays an important role in lipid metabolism, the authors postulated that cinnamon consumption may improve blood glucose and lipid concentrations.

    4 The results of this study indicate that a range of cinnamon intakes may be beneficial in reducing the risk factors associated with Diabetes and cardiovascular diseases in patients with type 2 Diabetes. Since the effects were similar at all three levels tested, there is a possibility that even a dose of less than 1 gram may be effective. The authors suggest that cinnamon may also benefit the non-diabetic population by preventing and controlling elevated glucose and blood lipid concentrations.

    I want to thank the American Botanical Council for their great contribution this industry.

    Dr Jonathan Wright M.D. reported that a flavonoid found in cinnamon can mimic the action and work synergistically with insulin in your body to help regulate blood sugar more effectively.

    I have personally seen the power of cinnamon at work on thousands of people and I can tell you that cinnamon is safe, has fat burning properties, can assist in insulin regulation and Fatty Lipid reduction.

    I do hope this educational information will help you understand more about the world of Botanical nutrition.
