Facebook Socializing and Facebook Spamming
After opening my facebook today I was prompted to ask and just could not resist, ‘Are you really building friendships on facebook? Are you socializing?’ Most of us understand that the majority of you guys are marketers and you want to promote your company and get people to join your team. But, no one is going to join just because you put up link link link link link in all of your updates all of the time especially if you arent actually SOCIALIZING with people. It’s like getting junk mail. And what do people do with junk mail? They don’t read it, that’s for sure.
It’s great that you are excited, but remember other people are excited about their stuff too. As much as you might want people to come to you and join your business opportunity, writing about your business in every status update is NOT the way to do it. Fb is a place where people literally go to get noticed. They are sharing the best of their lives, the most interesting things. You have to show off you a little and not just your company and it’s comp plan. That how you hold up your end of the friendship..
If you arent talking/conversing with people, getting to know people, sharing information with people, PROVIDING VALUE to people, or learning about people then you are not going to succeed on fb or in this industry.
What it’s really about is building relationships. Be yourself. Talk to people and not at them. Let them learn somethings about you. It will get you alot further then just telling them about your company and spamming your business links.
NOTE TO INTERNET GUYS AND GIRLS: We do know that every little link counts. So, if that’s what you are in it for, great. But, same rules apply. Spam as little as possible.
