What’s in YOUR Marketing Budget?
I was just reading one of my favorite online marketing related blogs, the SEOMoz Blog. Rand Fishkin posted a new article there titled The New Era of Inbound Marketing
The image struck a chord with me because I had been speaking with some people earlier in the day who have had a lot of success with offline marketing. I was thinking “How can I show them how online marketing is really where they should be in a way that will be convincing?” This graph from Rand’s post takes care of that:

So all of the traditional marketing methods are expected to decrease in effectiveness while most of the “new” or “online” methods, such as Facebook, blogs (like this one!), YouTube, Twitter, email marketing, mobile marketing, etc. are expected to increase.
So, the point is, if you’ve had success with newspaper ads or Yellow pages then you will have much more success online – you’ll get more bang for your buck and you’ll probably be able to TRACK the effectiveness a lot more. The issue is that a lot of the new methods are much more complex then just buying an ad in a newspaper. They usually involve more technical know how and allow you more room for error. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t get started with them, but you should start doing your homework and/or find someone to partner with who knows what they’re doing with online marketing and get out there and profit online!
